When people find themselves complaining in an office about the boring every day work, the stress, the traffic, the vain conversations, the noise, the faxes and the annoying reminder of Memos, notices, emails, etc… a few people wonder what If I could do something different with my life?

At simple sight, becoming a Diving Instructor is a dream come through. Amazing destinations, great places to visit, beautiful people that admire you, because at the end of the day, you are the guy: You are the Diving Instructor!

The task of becoming a Diving Instructor then it seems not to be such an easy one… many people go ahead with what many call the career path and after finishing their first open water course or even their advanced course, they rapidly realise that the underwater world is always unknown and unpredictable…. . As with a Boeing 747 Pilot… you need hours of experience and training to understand the hazards, the responsibility and the implications of your acts as a Diving Instructor.

Not only the Diving Instructor gets all the attention, the free drinks in the local pub and signs at the end of the day Diving Certifications, the Diving Instructor is responsible for others peoples lives, of their safety and is in charge of making his students as capable as possible to become “divers” in a 4 day period.

Believe me: It is not an easy task.

Diving is not like riding a bike that despite the terrain you know that if you continue riding everything will be just ok. The Diving Experience changes depending of your location, experience, time of the year, depth, equipment, weather, people you are diving with and even your mood during that day, are key factors during your dive.

Now, assume all these variables plus the fact that you are dealing with all this, plus a group of nervous students who are going to go underwater for the first time.

As you can imagine many things can go wrong, and at the same time, many things usually go more than right.

Because the satisfaction of seeing your students with the biggest smile ever after their first dive is worth all the sacrifice, hard work and hours and hours of patience !

That’s why becoming a Diving Instructor is a serious decision that requires a good choice when you are ready to find who will train you as a future instructor.

In the same way that Luke Skywalker needed Yoda and their sidekicks to fight against the Empire, well you need all the tools and advice you can get.

In the PADI system (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) this group of YODAS or Diving gurus are called Course Directors, and it is these people who are in charge of giving you all the education, tips and little secrets that will make your life easier as an instructor. That’s why when you choose to become an instructor you need to understand that the Course Director is your biggest influence, and that’s why you have to take your time to analyse and study the best Diving carreer option to choose.

After you become a Divemaster and you are ready to become a Diving Instructor you have to undergo the Instructor Development Course well known as PADI IDC.

The PADI IDC is the most complex course you have ever taken so far. It is a non stop bombing of information regarding standards, safety, students, the PADI system, law, marketing and sales. Yes you read well, you learn also about non direct diving related topics such as marketing, and sales strategy: because at the end of the day, diving is a business like any other! The most amazing thing about the course itself, is that is a challenging course, that gives you the option of opening your eyes in a different way and to see the process of teaching scuba diving as a “science” that requires the how-to and the required experience.

When you surf the net, and you start wondering where to do your PADI IDC, you can find Choosing IDC website www.choosingidc.com , where you can see quite an interesting variety of different locations, from Egypt to Honduras, from Cyprus to Australia…. from Thailand to California… . So many places! So many Course Directors, so many Dive Centers !

Infact, the amount of places, is one of the exciting reasons for doing your IDc, there are multiple global destinations where you can explore and do your IDC course and with a bit of luck, stay to live there, find a job… and become part of the local diving community in that zone.

Difficult? Not at all. You have to remember that many of the IDC centres are usually located in big diving areas like Utila, Hurghada, Puerto Galeras, Florida, Cairns, Koh Tao, and these unique places in the world attract a huge amount of diving tourist from all around the globe. These tourists in many cases are just like you were before: non divers interested in doing their open water course. And of course, it is in these moments where Dive Centers need Diving Instructors! . That’s why the decision of doing your IDC in a popular diving area is not only a smart decision from an educational point of view, but is also a great way to get access to job offers.

During more than 10 months, Choosing IDC www.choosingidc.com has seen how every day more people understand that a life behind a desk and papers to fill is not a dreamed life. Diving is not only a special and for many of us, spiritual experience, it is also a new and incredible way of been finally free by having the possibility of travelling, diving and working at the same time.

Working as a Diving Instructor once you start doing it is not just a job, it becomes a way of life, a fantastic rewarding experience and a great way to teach people one of the things you love most in life: Diving.

With the friends you’ll certainly make, you´ll stay in contact the rest of your life. Deepening the understanding for other cultures and life-styles. And experience the thrill of making a good living in a relaxed, but ambitious environment.

This will probably bring you the envy of your friends – who didn´t have the courage to take the decisive step forward like you did – when they come to visit you during their vacations to learn how to dive WITH YOU

As a member of the increasing and multicultural community of PADI diving professionals, it’s easy for you to find interesting jobs in the most exclusive and exotic places in the world.
Think of all the tropical dive sites, sunken ship-wrecks and mysterious deep blue oceans you are about to discover.
Say good-bye to surviving in black and white, and switch to enjoy working & living in our colorful world.
——————————————————————————–
Why would you choose Diversity Diving?

It is your choice to become a qualified scuba instructor… Why wasting your time filling numerous tanks or working for peanuts. As a respected customer and part our educational system, you can be on your way to start your professional training right away. We do not require internship commitments. You simply start your training with us and we’ll guide you step-by step through the process.
We have found from experience that the overall average duration of 10 days for an IDC are not sufficient to ensure skill development and personal attention to IDC candidates. That’s why we make the effort to offer you extra time! Our candidates are part of an in-depth education on which they can rely and confidently construct their future career. This is one of the reasons why our IDC’s have a 100% passing rate.

We at Diversity Diving believe in action over words. For this why we decided not to spend time on praising ourselves on top of the world, but rather dedicate more to our IDC courses. We work with our own, internationally well known course director: Ferry Sneekes. His passion for professional training makes you the beneficiary of extensive experience.

You will learn many new skills and make new -lifetime- friends… whilst having fun. But most importantly, you will prepare for a new lifestyle.

If you are looking for just a few days of fantastic diving and snorkeling or a personalized package of diving courses… Diversity Diving is what you have been looking for. Diversity Diving Playa del Carmen Shop and divers preparing to go diving

New to Scuba Diving
Never dove before, or not a certified diver yet? No problem!
If you are at least ten years old, in good health and can swim – you can discover the impressive underwater world of the Mexican Caribbean by participating in the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program, and find out how easy and fun diving is. After this you can proceed with an entry level course like scuba diver or open water diver.

Certified Divers
For certified divers we offer beautiful fun dives as well as continuing education. If you are certified through another organisation, but you want to become part of PADI, just ask for cross-over possibilities.
Are your dive skills a little bit rusty because you haven’t been diving in a while? No worries… the refresher program will tune you up in no time.
Some known highlights of diving in Mexico are the lively and colorful local reefs, the deep and impressive reefs around the famous island of Cozumel and the mysterious waters of the ancient Mayan caves… known as CENOTES.

Diving Schedule
The boat leaves daily at 09.00 from our nearby mooring area for a 2-tank dive, and comes back between 12.00 and 12.30. Most of the dive sites are comfortably close by.
We have a second 2-tank dive planned for 13.00 this one comes back between 16.00 and 16.30. We have the explicit preference to work with small groups. Maximum 2 groups of 5 divers with their own instructor as a guide… so 12 divers, is what we consider a full boat.

Cavern Diving
For our Cenote tours we leave in one of our pick-up trucks to the – in the jungle located caverns. Our guides are specially qualified full cave divers through respected organizations for technical diving.
They are diving their full cave equipment in the caverns, while you enjoy your regular gear. This to ensure safety for our guests. Your guide will do the worrying for you… You just jump in and enjoy.

Diving Cozumel
For our Cozumel daytrips we meet in the dive center and we’ll take the ferry at 09.00 to cross to the island. After an impressive dive day you get the opportunity to check out Cozumel a bit, before we take the 16.00 ferry back to the main land.

Go Pro
If you are considering to become a dive professional inform about our Go Pro opportunities, make your interests clear and receive a personalized setup to take you to where you want to get.

We are located in Bavaro, in the Dominican Republic , the Caribbean DiveCollege works within the operation of the 5star IDC Gold Palm Resort, Pelicano Sport.

From here we start our courses on a daily bases and make excursions to the Caribbean side of the Island .

Because of this we are able to offer a great variety in dive sites, like the famous St George wreck in Bahahibe and the caves Macao and Padre nuestro.

Our candidates will also get experience in guiding these excursions.

We are focused on the Go Pro programs in which our candidates learn everything about working in a professional Dive Operation, like equipment repair and compressor handling.

We do not depend on seasons and can provide the practical training all year around.

By assisting Instructors during our programs on a daily bases you will get the necessary experience to become a competent professional and more important feel comfortable in teaching students.

For newly certified Instructors we have a job placement program where the first courses will be together with an experienced Instructor.

There are no work permits necessary here in the DR so it is the perfect place to gain experience and learn the Spanish language.

Our new MSDT program will guide you and let you teach, and certify the 25 students you need to become Master Scuba Diver Trainer.

For our IDC candidates who like to refresh their skills or get a little more experience before the IDC, you can come earlier dives and refresh sessions.

During our programs you can stay in our guesthouse where you find the relaxed atmosphere to study and hang out with the rest of the candidates.

At this moment we are exploring the cave systems here in the Dominican Republic and offer all these aspects of diving to our students including technical diving. In the Instructor Development Courses we put a lot of attention on the real life teaching after your course.

When I hired Instructors for several companies in the past, I found a lot not really comfortable in teaching their students.

In our job placement program we give the change to team teach, with one of our experienced Instructors in your first courses, so you will feel comfortable starting your career. We have 6 different dive bases in our operation in the Dom Rep and a wide network of related centers in the Caribbean to help you with a job.

Therefore our motto here in the Dive College is “You will not only get certified, you also leave qualified”.
