THE FULL PAID IDC

Split into two main sections, the full PAID IDC comprises Assistant Instructor (AI) and Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI). You must complete the AI before progressing to the OWSI. The IDC is designed to lead you into your Instructor Exam (IE) with confidence.

Here at IDC Koh Tao we believe in individualized instruction thus apply a flexible approach to each Divemaster in Training’s schedule.

Our Divemaster Training Program is overseen by our Resident PADI Course Director Matt Bolton with two dedicated PADI Master Instructors Stiofan McAilan and Carsten Neuhaus in full time teaching positions exclusively to deal with the Crystal “DMT” Program.

The team will sit down with you and tailor the program around your needs as well as present all knowledge and skill development modules. You will also be assigned one of our Instructors as a mentor throughout.

During the course you will assist our Instructors on PADI Diver courses as well as our team of Divemaster’s with certified divers and the logistics of running a busy dive school and resort.

You will also be taken through 8 dive theory subjects including Physics and Physiology as well as plenty of skills circuits and Rescue assessments assuring your skills are to a standard expected from a PADI professional.

Once you are certified as a PADI Divemaster you have the opportunity to complete a 14 day “Divemaster Internship Program” (D.I.P). This unique program, the only one of its kind in Thailand is overseen by Crystal Dive Resort’s Operation’s Manager Steve Hulme.

The aim is to give candidates an in depth view of the workings of a busy PADI 5 Star Dive Operation. Working alongside our experienced team of Divemasters gaining “real” working experience in areas such as dive school logistics, equipment maintenance, dive guiding, conducting PADI Programs, boatmanship skills and customer relations.

We don’t charge for this program but only offer this opportunity to candidates that are serious about a career within the industry. This is also ideal preparation for the IDC (Instructor Development Course).
