Welcome to the website of PADI Course Director and EFR Instructor Trainer Des Paroz. Here you’ll find information on a range of PADI and EFR courses, including instructor level training with PADI, and CPR/First Aid instructor training with Emergency First Response.

Des conducts his courses through United Divers Wollongong, a PADI 5 Star Dive Center located in Wollongong, approximately 1 hour south of Sydney. Wollongong is the major city of the Illawarra region, and is easily accessible from Southern Sydney, the Macarthur District and the Southern Highlands, as well as the South Coast of NSW.

The OWSI Program is the second half of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC), following on from the PADI Assistant Instructor Course.

Conducted over a minimum of four days (by PADI Standards), our OWSI Program is scheduled over 6 days. This gives you more time for learning at a relaxed pace, and allows time to undertake our FREE bonus Specialty Instructor Training Course for the new PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider specialty. When you complete your OWSI Program (or complete IDC) with United Divers, you’ll not only be qualified to attend the PADI Instructor Exam, but you’ll also be certified as a Specialty Instructor in this important area of diving

During the OWSI Program you’ll be exposed to a wide range of topics and workshops that will prepare you to be a great dive instructor. You’ll learn about the dive industry, risk management, the business of diving, and how to conduct a wide range of PADI Programs. You’ll further refine the knowledge development, confined water and open water teaching skills you learnt during your AI Course, and be able to apply those skills to the full range of PADI diver courses.

Our OWSI Programs are conducted in two formats – either full time (6 continuous days) or part time (over three weekends). See our Instructor Development Course Calendar for more information on dates.

I really want to thank you for the IDC and amazing preparation for the IE. The course was professionally managed, and I really enjoyed the way you challenged me. The course was well structured so at the end of it I felt in great shape for the IE.

Coming from a marketing background I really appreciated you’re engaging presentations, and you can be sure I will be using some of the structure learnt in my real job! Your obvious love of diving and respect of the environment comes through in everything you do and I’m really looking forward to future courses with you.

Thanks again and hopefully we can get a dive in soon for fun!

Martin Mason completed a PADI IDC with Underwater Naturalist Specialty Instructor Course and an EFR Instructor Course at Frog Dive Willoughby.Martin is a part-time instructor at Frog Dive.
United Divers is Wollongong’s original dive center, established in 1976. Wollongong is the third largest city in NSW, Australia, and is located approximately 1.5 hours south of Sydney. It is the regional centre of the Illawarra region, and is easily accessible from southern Sydney and the Campbelltown, Southern Highlands and Macarthur regions.

Our charter boat operates every weekend and on weekdays by arrangement. Our itinerary includes the spectacular Five Islands off Wollongong as well as reefs to the north and several wreck dives, the most popular being the wreck of the Bombo. The shop is centrally located and within minutes of Wollongong Harbor where the boat departs at regular intervals.

Being a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Center, we offer a full range of Diving courses from “Discover Scuba” to Dive Instructor and beyond, as well as a wide range of specialty courses, including popular programs like Enriched Air Diver, Digital Underwater Photographer, Wreck Diver, Equipment Specialist, and more.
