We offer PADI Instructor courses every month, and if you need to refresh your Divemaster training you are welcome to arrive early and DM with us, and sit in on theory classes and a skills circuit to best prepare and get the most out of your course with us.

The Utila Dive Centre is the most awarded and recognised PADI Career Development Center in the Central America and Caribbean regions, and we do more than just certify divers, we train PADI professionals for a rewarding lifestyle and unsurpassed success.  Many of our alumni now work in the Super yacht industry, manager premier dive resorts, own their own dive businesses (with our continued mentorship) and are PADI Course Directors themselves.

In order to give you the best head start to your dive career and help differentiate yourself in the dive industry we have invested in creating a team of staff and facility that can give you the best academic and in-water foundation.  The Utila Dive Centre offers the most comprehensive range of Instructor level continuing education programs in the Caribbean; choose Instructor level training with the ‘Divers Alert Network’ (DAN), Beautiful Oceans Science Diver/Marine Ecology courses, DSAT Tec-Rec programs and Handicapped Scuba Association training.

Andy was one of a few select Course Directors from the Americas, to receive the award at the October 2008 DEMA show in Las Vegas, and it is the 4th consecutive year that he has received the Platinum status from PADI. The award is another endorsement to the experience of Utila Dive Centers staff and their commitment to professional dive training, PADI Instructor courses and their candidates.  The Utila Dive Centre is the only facility in the region with 2 PADI Platinum Course Directors, Andy Phillips and Angel Navarro, who conduct PADI IDC’s and MSDT training.

Congratulations to Utila Dive Center’s team of PADI Divemaster, Instructor and support staff for receiving this award from PADI for their environmental and conservation efforts in both 2006, 2007 and 2008. Only a handful of dive resorts and centers worldwide receive this award and is a reflection of all the hard work, investment and dedication that UDC staff have shown through their environmental clean-up’s, research activities, educational programs and setting up an ecological facility on Utila. A special show of appreciation and thanks was delivered to the owners of the Utila Dive Center for their generous investment and commitment to setting up the only non-profit, NGO, in Utila that specialises in courses covering ecological areas, mangrove concerns and marine research, with the ‘Utila Center for Marine Ecology’ (UCME) headed by biologist Stephen Box. The UCME is open to all divers on Utila, especially Divemaster and Instructor (IDC) candidates and interns, as a way to improve their own education and understanding of ecological matters on a local level by studying the meso-american reef system that runs from Mexico, to Belize and into Honduras, and also on a global level.
