PADI IDC Dahab – Poseidon Divers

You have decided to take the biggest step in your diving career and go for the PADI Instructor level. Just like any career decision you need to think carefully before deciding on a company that is going to give you that break to ensure that the training is the best you can buy, and that the add on benefits are enough to give you the best start possible in the dive industry. Trust us on this point – not all IDC’s are the same, and not all Course Directors are the same. Carry on reading to see what you will get from an IDC at Poseidon and we think you are going to like it – a lot of people before you have.
There are a couple of things we can say that give you an idea of why we are the top choice for so many people. Firstly, we are a PADI Career Development Centre – in fact we were the first in Dahab as well as being a PADI National Geographic Centre. We have 2 centres in Dahab, one down to earth one that is pretty cool if we say so ourselves, and one in the 5 Star Le Meridien hotel – it means that during your training we will give you experience of 2 different markets. Dahab itself is a great town and if you are going to come to Egypt it is the only place worth visiting unless the impersonal nature of Sharm or Hurghada appeals to you!

We have 2 full time resident Course Directors, Ed Poore and Matt Smithson. Ed is the most successful CD in Dahab having the highest first time pass rate and has 9 years’ experience as a CD as well as just under 800 Instructor level certifications. Between them they have over 30 years diving experience in almost every country you can think of. Matt is an ex commercial diver, and Ed is a trimix Instructor Trainer so they have pretty much every base covered. Our 4 IDC Staff Instructors are of various nationalities giving us the ability to teach in multiple languages and allowing a wide variety of experience to be put into the teaching process – they are also the largest and most experienced full time team in Dahab. We have even created 4 Course Directors from our ranks of which we are very proud. Our team really can claim to be the most experienced and successful Instructor Development group in the Region, backed up by the facts and figures rather than just a wild claim.

We guarantee that our groups will be the ones having fun at the Instructor Exam above and beyond all others and it’s our mission to keep you relaxed throughout. We are the busiest dive business in Dahab topping the certification charts which means we can give you a ton of experience and a high chance of employment after the IDC. This is very important as we offer you the chance to team teach after the IDC until your PADI number comes through and there is no point in doing this in a quiet centre! We have over 20 full time instructors, most of them having done their IDC with us – this is by far the highest number of full time staff in any centre in Dahab.

We won’t bore you with a list of the IDC contents as it is the same the world over and we can run through that with you in our factsheet, but it is worth mentioning that we also offer additional workshops during the 12 day programme in CESA, Rescue, AWARE, Knots, Lift bags, e-learning and National Geographic. We also add in an additional lesson in each key teaching area to give you more instructional experience and allow you to be better educated and capable than the average new Instructor – it means our IDC is way above the minimum required.

We have 2 dive boats, and we will use one for your MSDT training. It means it’s another string to your training bow – not only 5 Star hotel experiences, but also boat experience. We have a number of packages but you will all receive an Instructor Specialty free of charge included in your IDC – EANx Instructor.

If the unthinkable happens and you don’t pass the IE first time after we have recommended you should go, then we make the offer to refresh any knowledge areas you need, put you in for a second IE in Dahab, and because we believe our IDC is the best available, we will pay for the refresh and the IE retake for you. The reason is we don’t believe we will need to use this offer – if we recommend you attend we firmly believe you will pass comfortably.
We also offer you the chance to come to the centre in advance of the IDC if you feel you need to refresh your Divemaster training. You can DM with us, sit in on theory classes and skills circuits and tag onto dives to get any skills dusted off – this will cost you nothing and will allow you to prepare and get the most out of your IDC with us.

We are members of Global Dive Network, in conjunction with 5 other top IDC centres in Thailand, Honduras, Australia, and Indonesia, as well as having a network of centres working together in Egypt. Through this we can offer assistance if you are looking to work in the dive industry by checking with each other on existing vacancies and where appropriate, recommending you. If we ourselves have vacancies we will also look at you to see if you are a good fit for one of our centres.

Finally we guarantee our CD’s are present and in control of our IDC lessons – classroom, pool and open water, and we normally have a ratio of a maximum of 4:1 of candidates to IDC staff. Not many IDCs offer this personalised level of training nor offer the support to your future that we do!
