The IDC (Instructor development course) begins with independent self-study and encompasses two PADI programs: The Assistant Instructor Course (AI) and The Open Water Scuba Instructor Course (OWSI). The IDC is the heart of PADI Instructor training. During the course, you’ll apply your dive knowledge and skills while learning to use the PADI System of diver education in the classroom, in confined and open water. The IDC allows you to learn quickly and effectively with state-of-the-art educational materials, Instructor Candidate Workbook and latest PADI videos.

The programs are performance based and candidate centered, thus you will receive feedback throughout the course informing you of your progress and level of proficiency. As a result, you can relax while learning, knowing that mistakes are part of the process.

The IDC’s instructional system design and cutting edge teaching media also makes learning easier. With modern educational principles and manageable, positive learning structure in a relaxed atmosphere, the IDC is not only more effective, but it is also more efficient. After successful completion of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC), instructor candidates must attend and successfully complete a PADI Instructor Examination (IE).

PADI Assistant Instructor Course (AI)

During the Assistant Instructor Course you will learn about the Standards of the PADI teaching system. We will show you how to give teaching presentations in the classroom, confined water and open water. The goals for you in the AI course are:

* To learn about standards and courses you can teach as an Assistant Instructor.
* To fine-tune the quality of your demonstrations of the 20 basic skills from the skill circuit.
* To join a Rescue Workshop.
* To successfully pass an exam in the AI Standards Exam.
* To participate in a 800 Metre snorkel swim.

Additionally, we offer the following Workshops:

* Ascent – Descent
* CESA (Controlled Emergancy Swimming Ascent)
* Lifting Bag
* Knots
* AWARE
* National Geographic
* e-Learning

After successfully completing this course, you will earn the rating of a PADI Assistant Instructor. Completing the AI course allows you to join us on the second part of the program (OWSI).

If you are already a PADI Assistant Instructor (AI), you only need to join the second part of the IDC, the OWSI program. However, we would like to invite you for the full IDC. We have a special offer for this.

PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI)

During the OWSI programs you will learn how to fine tune your teaching abilities. You will have the opportunity to give further teaching presentations in the classroom, confined water and open water.

We will explain to you, in detail, all of the standards and courses, starting from the Open Water Diver course, including the Specialty courses up to the Divemaster course. You will get the chance to get practical experience in these courses.

We will also look into legal risk management. As well we will discus marketing and business. Another area we will look at is adaptive teaching.

The goals of the OWSI are:

* To fine-tune the quality of your demonstrations of the 20 basic skills from the skill circuit.
* To successfully pass an exam in the five topics of the diving theory.
* To participate in an “Adventure in Diving Workshop”.
* To participate in a “Discover Scuba Diving Workshop”

Additionally, we offer the following Workshops an:

* Ascent – Descent
* CESA (Controlled Emergancy Swimming Ascent)
* Rescue
* AWARE
* Navigation
* National Geographic
* e-Learning

After successfully completing the OWSI program you will be qualified to join the Instructor exam. After completing the IDC, you will get our special National Geographic T-Shirt as a gift and you can wear it during the Instructor exam with the rest of your classmates.

It’s easy to teach someone to breath underwater … hard to respect the rules of the center, make the operations run smoothly and cooperate with colleagues of different nationality/culture! ..if you can do that you are a professional!

During the pre-employment training, I let the new instructors cover all the different positions/duties …that’s the only way they can learn how to cooperate.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE IDC

Our experience made us to realize that quite often candidates arrive to the IDC without a sufficient preparation.The consequence is an extra-stress due to a lack of knowledge and skills wich they should have done in previous courses.

The IDC is an intensive course : do not underestimate it! (often you will be asked to prepare your assegnaments in the evenings); in order to avoid study overloads we strictly invite you to start your preparation well ahead. In this way you’ll be able to concentrate in developing your teaching skills and have a stress-free course!
